Building the bottom-up approach to palliative care: A public health / compassionate community intervention

Participants in this session will learn the following: (1) What it means to take a public-health, compassionate community approach to care and how it fits with a palliative approach to care. (2) Barriers and facilitators to realizing a public-health, compassionate community approach to care in Canada. (3) Evidence on the development and evaluation of a volunteer intervention called Nav-CARE designed to enhance a compassionate community approach to care. (4) Reflections on how to further integrate the role of the volunteer into palliative care in Canada.
