Event Details
This session will introduce attendees to the work of the Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Palliative Care Network (IDD PCN) and the Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) Palliative Care Resource Guide and Toolkit that will be released this year. People with Intellectual and Developmental Disability (PWIDD), many with distinct complex needs, lack equitable access to palliative care, including providers with competency in IDD palliative care. Existing palliative care frameworks and tools are not directly transferable to IDD and require specification. The IDD Palliative Care Network (IDD PCN) was established in 2020 and comprises palliative care and developmental service providers from across Ontario. Our aim is cross-sector capacity building to empower providers in the Developmental Services and Healthcare sectors in the delivery of quality palliative care that meets the distinct needs of PWIDD. The IDD Palliative Care Resource Guide and Toolkit is intended to equip providers in the delivery of IDD specific palliative care “Good Practices” and clinically appropriate tools for use in PWIDD
The 2024 CPCNA Leadership and Lifetime Achievement Awards will also be presented.
