Marianne Sofronas

Marianne Sofronas

Dr. Marianne Sofronas is a nurse, clinical ethicist, and anthropologist. She is currently a faculty lecturer at the Ingram School of Nursing at McGill University, teaching nursing ethics, theory, palliative care, critical care, and neuroscience nursing. Marianne completed her PhD at McGill University in 2023, and a post-doctoral fellowship with the Palliative Care and Nursing Ethics Hub at the University of Ottawa in 2024. Her programme of research focuses on palliative care for populations experiencing vulnerability, and how nurses enact morally significant practice. Marianne worked clinically for over a decade as a nurse clinician in neuro-critical care and a clinical ethicist. She is the recipient of multiple awards and fellowships, including the Richard and Edith Strauss Clinical Research Doctoral Fellowship (2016-2018), Doctoral Training Awards from the Fonds de Recherche Santé du Québec (2018-2022) and the Quebec Order of Nurses (2021-2022), and a Post doctoral Fellowship from the Canadian Institute for Health Research (2023-2024).
